Position Overview: 

The role of the Project Manager on the Capital Improvements team is to scope, plan, and execute, projects according to schedule and budget.

Projects will vary in size, scope, complexity, and duration. A successful candidate will thrive in troubleshooting PV systems, simultaneously managing a broad range of projects, working cross functionally to create solutions, and independently managing all aspects of project execution.  Typical projects may be AC repowers with no obvious like-for-like inverter swap, DC repowers, full repowers of legacy sites, DAS migrations, BESS additions, or decommissioning. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. The project manager is directly responsible for the safety of the project.

 

As a Project Manager-Capital Improvements, you will: 

  • Negotiate contracts with third parties and develop scopes, milestones, and deliverables to meet team goals.
  • Author and administer RFPs when required
  • Responsible for the P&L of the project
  • Responsible to drive project and profit plans to budget through successful leadership, organizational plans, customer engagement, and outstanding execution of all field operations strategies of the project consistently with company procedures and policies.
  • Administer multiple contracts and fulfill the contract provisions
  • Track and report project milestones and deliverables
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents as needed
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to contractors in a timely and clear fashion
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project
  • Recommend subsequent budget and schedule changes where necessary
  • Request and review contractor’s progress reports, testing and witness records
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path items. Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Work closely with utilities to establish the requirements and process to interconnect the projects where applicable
  • Liaise with contractors and local authorities to obtain licenses and permits for the project where applicable.
  • Lead H&S of the projects and make sure all department personnel reach Corporate Safety Goals
  • Lead QA/QC of the projects and make sure all department personnel reach Corporate Safety.

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Identify potential contractors
  • Create. Adopt, and maintain tracking tools.
  • Attend various meetings with Business Development, Due Diligence, Technical Offices, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, Performance, Asset Management and other teams
  • Travel to sites, vendors, and other MN8 offices when necessary.

 

Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • Bachelors degree or technical degree in engineering or any relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years in Solar Construction, operations and maintenance, or Solar-specific engineering. Electrical background (i.e. substations, interconnection, field, inverter technician) would be a plus.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong collaboration interest and skills for both our team and cross-functionally.
  • Ability to drive solutions.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience managing projects and subcontractors
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Visio, and Project (or equiv).
  • Working knowledge of energy modeling software and comfort reading the results.
  • Experience reading and interpreting solar electrical drawings.
  • Basic solar design and production estimating knowledge.
  • Ownership mindset- familiar with and committed to the concepts of value-creation and the ability to accurately measure
  • Familiar with and functional in various PV DAS platforms.
  • Familiar with typical PV performance KPIs.
