Position overview:
MN8 Solutions is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Field Director to play a crucial role in executing our EHS programs, policies, and objectives. This operationally focused position involves implementing and maintaining EHS programs, including risk assessments, environmental site assessments, waste reporting, EHS management systems, performance data tracking and analysis, auditing, and contractor oversight.
Reporting to the EHS Vice President in a matrix organization, the EHS Field Director will contribute to the strategic vision for EHS at MN8 Solutions while adapting programs to business unit-specific needs. Effective collaboration with MN8 Solutions business leaders, EHS Systems & Intelligence Specialists, EHS Program Managers, operational teams, and corporate stakeholders is essential to ensure the success in this role.
This role offers significant opportunities for impact across the organization, shaping how EHS principles are implemented and influencing safety culture and environmental practices at all levels.
As the EH&S Field Director, you will:
- Conduct thorough environmental, health, and safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Identify and help mitigate EHS risks through the hierarchy of controls, site assessments, hazard reviews, and metrics reporting to proactively manage risks.
- Assess the effectiveness of EHS initiatives within MN8 Solutions, ensuring that both lagging and leading indicators drive performance improvement and that the MN8 EHS culture is integrated into the business.
- Develop and deliver effective EHS training programs to meet legal and MN8 Solutions requirements/needs to ensure team member competency is a crucial part of the role. You will define training criteria, content, and coordinate delivery with Corporate and Business Unit training teams.
- In the event of unplanned incidents, the EHS Field Director will ensure the business thoroughly investigates hazards, conditions, and incidents to determine root causes and implement appropriate corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. They will oversee the incident investigation process and utilize industry investigation tools.
- Develop, review, and update EHS policies, procedures, training programs, and other systems as necessary. The EHS Field Director must work effectively in a matrixed, team-oriented environment and help define and drive an EHS culture and mindset across all areas of the business.
- Technical excellence across EHS disciplines underpins the role’s effectiveness. The Field Director must maintain current knowledge of regulations, standards, and industry best practices while anticipating emerging trends and requirements. You will provide technical guidance to implementation teams and ensure programs meet both regulatory requirements (including Environmental and OSHA reporting i.e. Tier II reporting) and organizational needs.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- 10+ years of EHS experience, with demonstrated success in program deployment using ISO45001 and ISO14001 architecture, preferably within the power generation, distribution, transmission, or utility industries.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering, or a related field is required, and relevant professional certifications (CSP/ASP/SMS) are highly valued.
- Strong Microsoft PowerPoint skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities, prioritization skills, interpersonal skills to build trust, and excellent written and spoken communication skills are crucial.
- Proven ability to drive change across distributed locations is also necessary.
- Ability to regularly travel (40-50% domestic and international).
- Sophisticated communication skills and political acumen. The position requires regular interaction with business unit leadership, regional teams, and operational management.
- Flexibility in scheduling and a valid driver’s license are necessary.
