Development Engineer

As Development Engineer, you will:

  • Coordinate with other engineering resources in Madrid, Spain office
  • Support Solar Engineering functions under GSRP Operations reporting to the Head of Engineering under the Technical Operations vertical
  • Support the Due Diligence (DD) team in the technical evaluation of new acquisition opportunities. Such evaluation will include work-streams such as:
    • Review of conceptual designs prepared by other developers
    • Review of Site Characterization documents such as geotechnical reports, drainage reports, hydrology analyses, environmental, topographical, zoning, easements, wetlands etc.
    • Review for adherence to AHJ requirements and land use approvals.
    • Stay current on latest codes, standards and new technologies along with jurisdictional/utility requirements and best installation practices.
    • Prepare value engineering and risk analysis in support of acquisition bids
    • Work with Due diligence and Project execution on RFP proposals, building project costs and scope under various technical work-streams.
  • Support the Development (DEV) team in green field development or after acquisition of a portfolio of development solar projects by coordinating design and engineering work-streams such as:
    • Prepare value engineering and risk analysis
    • Direct and regularly interact with third party engineering providers and supervise the work from such resources in the development of preliminary, 30% and Issued for Permit drawing sets
    • Manage preparation of Civil and Electrical design drawing packages to support development work streams such as Interconnection, Environmental Permitting or Land Permitting
    • Coordinate between Energy Modeling function, PV Design function, external engineering providers, environmental, interconnection and land consultants for the creation of drawing packages and energy models
    • Support DEV team in interaction with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), Interconnection Utility and Landowners
  • Gather technical lessons learned from Project Engineering, Project Execution and Asset Operations to update/improve GSRP Development Design Standards from time to time
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key equipment suppliers as well as regularly evaluate their product pipeline
  • Identify and evaluate technical enhancement opportunities working in conjunction with Asset Management, Technical Operations and other GSRP teams
  • Support Project Management Office (PMO) team in the development and improvement of technical related processes

 

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 1-3 years of experience in Solar Engineering with excellent understanding of solar project technical characteristics
  • Experience in Engineering of other renewable energy projects preferred.
  • Engineering BSc Degree required; Masters preferred
  • Expert knowledge of renewable energy engineering documents
  • Working knowledge of key renewable energy document types: project agreements and permits
  • Proficient in: AutoCAD, PVsyst, PlantPredict, Helioscope, Excel, Word, Smartsheet, GIS
  • Demonstrated experience preparing or managing outside consultants in preparation of load flow and other grid studies to determine feasibility on interconnection cost economics.
  • National Electric code (NEC) knowledge preferred
  • Familiar with FERC, ISO rules and standards preferred
  • Very organized and able to multitask effectively
  • Good communicator both written and verbal skill
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and determination to complete difficult projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and create efficiencies.
  • Highly developed sense of professional ethics.
  • Ability to work both on a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to interface effectively with cross functional employee group of all levels and competencies.
