Senior Indirect Tax Manager

Position overview: 

MN8 Energy is seeking a Senior Indirect Tax Manager to lead our indirect tax compliance (which includes, generally, property and sales and use tax) efforts and provide strategic guidance on tax matters affecting our operations and investments. The Senior Indirect Tax Manager will play a critical role in acquisition diligence and ensuring compliance with indirect tax laws and regulations, optimizing tax strategies, and mitigating tax risks across the organization.  

 

As the Senior Indirect Tax Manager, you will: 

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of sales & use and property tax compliance and filings. 
  • Oversee managing and providing data to our outside service providers to ensure timely filing of all tax compliance filings. 
  • Managing and providing data with analysis to internal teams such as accounting, projection and forecasting, operational and asset management, investment, etc.  
  • Perform indirect tax diligence and analysis pertaining to new acquisitions, new construction, and early buyouts of solar energy projects. 
  • Lead discussions with a variety of teams to understand the scope of new transactions in order to provide the proper guidance from an indirect tax perspective. 
  • Remain abreast of current tax developments and effectively apply tax knowledge to business transactions. 
  • Research new sales and use tax laws and regulations. 
  • Lead special tax projects and innovative ideas to improve processes and efficiency. 
  • Establish and refine tax policies, processes, and system workflows. 

Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Tax, Accounting and/or Finance. 
  • 7+ years’ experience in state and local tax matters. 
  • Proficiency in use of state and local tax compliance software (with a strong preference for Vertex), legal research software and suite of Microsoft Office programs. 
  • Experience with US state and local indirect tax compliance for large corporations.

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting ranges from $140,000 – $160,000. Within that range, individual compensation varies based on job-related factors including but not limited to experience and training, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs.
