Sr. Yield Engineer

Overview
The Senior Yield Engineer will serve as a knowledge center for all production and operating data. At least 5 years of experience in solar asset management and/or operations with good understanding of solar project technical characteristics.
Responsibilities
- Conduct energy estimates for solar and energy storage projects using industry leading software and company proprietary software
- Shading analysis including site topography
- Snow and soiling loss calculations
- Performance ratio (PR) calculations
- Conduct uncertainly calculations
- Research the latest tools, programs and papers for a continuous improvement of the company’s energy modelling capabilities
- Review equipment test reports for application of results on energy estimates
- Leverage operating data to formulate updated energy modeling assumptions
- Coordinate and manage the 3rd party resources (Owner’s Engineers) in the preparation of energy estimates; perform QAQC of results and ensure deadlines are met
- Conduct weekly performance analysis of operational projects using technical understanding of PV and BESS operations to identify underperformance and undetected downtime
- Work with team members to build automated analysis based on performance analysis findings
- Review and occasionally conduct performance testing (PR test or Capacity test) for newly built plants
- Prepare documentation to present energy modeling results and assumption to tird party financing parties (investors, independent engineers)
- Lead the negotiation with third party financing parties and technical advisors of energy modeling parameters and results
- Discuss inputs and results with peers, colleagues, clients and counterparts
- Work with meteorological databases and ground measured meteo data, and the providers of such data
- Create typical meteorological years (TMY) files
- Other tasks as directed
Requirements
- 5+ experience in energy modeling and performance analysis of solar projects with commercial tools such as PVsyst
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics
- Read, analyze and interpret designs and technical procedures
- Experience with AutoCAD is a plus
- Experience with Python, Matlab and R are highly desirable
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite and Smartsheet
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel VBA and Excel formulas
- Proficient use of English is a must
- Goal driven, Self-directed and detail oriented
- Strong management skills
- Strong analytical and technical as well as problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform under high pressure and dynamic work environment managing multiple project deliverables
- Demonstrated ability to assimilate technical and commercial information and translate that into appropriate opinions or assessments
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team across multiple offices and time-zones and manage multiple concurrent projects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as task prioritization
- A strong personal commitment to continuous improvement
- Be able to conduct business and perform technical writing in English
