Sr Analyst, EV Charging Infrastructure Policy

Responsibilities

This hire would be on MN8’s regulatory and government affairs team and would work with MN8’s manager of EV charging policy. They would support on commercial diligence and advocacy work being done by the regulatory and government affairs team related to EV charging infrastructure.

Initially, this individual would spend much of their time providing policy analysis to support commercial decision-making by MN8, including EV charging infrastructure siting strategy, configuration decisions, tariff selection, energy sourcing strategy, and more. In this capacity, they would:

  • Analyze and provide insight on federal and state incentives available to EV charging infrastructure
  • Analyze and distil tariff options and trajectories across utility territories of interest
  • Analyze relevant policies impacting energy sourcing strategy, including net metering, green tariffs, community solar programs, virtual PPA opportunities, etc.
  • Analyze expected policies impacting the competitive environment, including utility participation opportunities and terms

Furthermore, this hire would support project management of incentive program applications, for instance MN8’s applications for NEVI grants and the like.

As MN8’s EV infrastructure investments increase over time, this individual would spend an increasing amount of time supporting MN8’s advocacy around key policy outcomes in jurisdictions where MN8 has material investments, working closely with MN8’s government and external affairs team. This would include advocacy around many of the same topics mentioned above, including federal and state incentives, utility tariffs, and policies impacting energy sourcing options as well as the competitive environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in the energy sector, with a preference for experience with policy analysis and/or advocacy, regulatory proceedings related to revenue requirements and/or utility rates, and/or wholesale and retail rate analysis, preferably related to EV charging infrastructure
  • Bachelor’s degree is a requirement, with a preference for technical backgrounds (e.g., economics, engineering, math, etc.); more advanced education is valued but not necessary
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate technical information and strategic goals
  • Proactive and forward-thinking attitude and creative problem-solving ability
  • A motivated self-starter who can work independently in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment

 

In New York City, the base salary for this position at the time of this posting ranges from $100,000 to $120,000. Within that range, individual compensation varies based on job-related factors including but not limited to experience and training, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs.
