Senior Manager, Technical Lead – EV

Location: Boca Raton, FL

SUMMARY:

MN8 Energy is one of the largest independent solar energy and energy storage owner-operators in the U.S., serving enterprise customers with clean energy and complementary solutions, such as battery storage and EV Charging, to enable an electrified, decarbonized world. Originally founded inside of Goldman Sachs in 2017, our fleet has grown to nearly 3-gigawatts of solar, including 850 projects across 27 states, and over 270 megawatts of battery storage projects, with each project tailored to achieve the bold decarbonization targets and goals of our more than 200 blue-chip customers. As the Senior Manager, Technical Lead – EV, you will:

  • Lead the technical evaluation of new EV charging opportunities for MN8.
  • Support Business Development on a consultative sales-basis.
  • Create Due Diligence plans for the evaluation of new opportunities.
  • Manage and coordinate consultants, Pre-construction Managers and Procurement Managers to expeditiously, and within budget, turn over deliverables for each opportunity/project.
  • Track progress and schedule throughout the evaluation process.
  • Evaluate customer and prospective project documentation and translate into critical opportunity/project level risk profile and data for intake into of MN8 management platforms. Such documentation will include:
  • Technical docs (as-built engineering drawings, performance reports, manuals, warranty information).
  • Contracts (offtake, interconnection, land control docs)
  • Permits (discretionary and ministerial).
  • Work with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the evaluation process is run efficiently and accurately. Stakeholders include:
  • Customer and customer vendors.
  • Internal MN8 team (including Business Development, Execution, Engineering, Asset Management and O&M, Legal, Accounting, Tax).
  • 3rd Party Support (Engineering, Permitting and Interconnection support, EPCs, Legal, Accounting, Tax).
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation for projects.
  • Manage 3rd party consultants or self-perform the generation of layouts and technical estimates as needed to support the evaluation and sales process.
  • Review project site plans for adherence to AHJ requirements and other current approvals.
  • Understand the full scope of the project through design, document review and asking questions of the design team and customer.
  • Prepare value engineering and risk analysis.
  • Prepare qualifications and assumptions for project bid estimates.
  • Conduct or manage detailed site surveys if required.
  • Understand monetization strategies for the different opportunities and translate into projects sizing and technology recommendation.
  • Provide or manage constructability review during the estimating process. Create a list of project discrepancies during the estimating review.
  • Work with manager to ensure quality control of bids and estimates.
  • Reporting status of multiple opportunities concurrently.
  • Develop and optimize processes and procedures for streamlining the technical evaluation process.
  • Support the development and improvement of the management platforms particularly as it pertains to due diligence and technical matters including tools and guidelines to increase efficiency in the evaluation of opportunities and projects.
  • Provide handoff support once an opportunity has matured and advances into construction.

 

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 5 years of experience in the EV charging industry, particularly DCFC, with good understanding of EV charging technology, project planning/staging and stakeholders involved.
  • Experience with hybrid EV and battery storage projects highly valued.
  • Experience with DC fast charging for fleet applications a plus.
  • Engineering or Business BSc Degree required; Masters preferred.
  • Experience creating conceptual layouts and estimates to support the sales process.
  • Working knowledge of key project document types: engineering drawings, interconnection agreements/related documentations, permits, EPC agreements, equipment supply agreements.
  • Proficient in: Excel, Word, Smartsheet, AutoCAD, MS Project.
  • Very organized and able to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbal skill.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and determination to complete difficult projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and create efficiencies.
  • Highly developed sense of professional ethics.
  • Ability to work both on a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy.
