Senior Analyst, Regulatory & Government Affairs

ABOUT THE POSITION:

This hire would be on MN8’s Regulatory & Government Affairs team and would support regulatory and government policy work and related commercial strategy work in both regulated and restructured markets.

 

As the Senior Analyst, Regulatory & Government Affairs, you will:

  • Lead research and analysis of policy matters to support commercial strategy around project development for solar, wind, and storage assets, as well as light, medium, and heavy-duty electric vehicle charging infrastructure, in both existing MN8 markets as well as new markets. This would entail working across multiple teams driving commercial strategy, including greenfield development, retrofit opportunities, M&A activity, asset management, and new business ventures and partnerships.
  • Support Regulatory & Market Affairs advocacy efforts on topics like resource adequacy, generator interconnection, transmission system planning, and ancillary services.
  • Support Government & External Affairs by tracking and influencing local and state policy through direct engagement at policy-making venues, and by utilizing internal and external resources to execute on priorities (e.g., trade groups, contract lobbyists, and consultants).
  • Support efforts to capture incentives for different infrastructure classes at both the state and federal levels.

 

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 2-6 years of experience in the energy sector; preference for experience in electricity sector planning (e.g., utility, ISO/RTO) and/or advocacy at state legislatures, state regulators, ISO/RTOs, and FERC.
  • Bachelor’s degree is a requirement; more advanced education is valued but not necessary.
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate technical information and strategic goals.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking attitude and creative problem-solving ability.
  • A motivated self-starter who can work independently in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.

In New York City, the base salary for this position at the time of this posting ranges from $90,000 to $150,000. Within that range, individual compensation varies based on job-related factors including but not limited to experience and training, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs.
